 1️. VOCABULARY – Health matters

  • medical check – prueba médica

✍️ Study task

Complete:

2️. GRAMMAR – Past Simple (Irregular verbs)

We use the past simple to talk about yesterday, last night, last week, etc.

👉 Important:
Irregular verbs do NOT end in -ed.
You must learn them by heart.

3️. SENTENCE STRUCTURES – Talking about health

Affirmative sentences

Subject + past verb

  • He had a cold.
  • She felt sick.
  • They drank water.

Negative sentences

Subject + didn’t + verb

  • He didn’t go to school.
  • She didn’t have lunch.
  • We didn’t eat chocolate.

👉 Remember:
After didn’t, the verb is in present form.

Write one sentence:

  • Affirmative: __________________________

4️. FUNCTIONS – Giving reasons with because

We use because to say why something happened.

🧠 Structure

Sentence + because + reason

  • He didn’t go swimming because he was ill.
  • She went to the dentist because she had a toothache.

✍️ Study task

Complete:

  • I drank water because ______________________.
  • She didn’t go to school because _______________.

 

5️. READING – How to understand the text

When you read:

1.     Look for past verbs (ate, drank, went…).

2.     Look for food and drinks.

3.     Look for health problems.

🔍 Ask yourself:

  • What did he/she eat?
  • What did he/she drink?
  • What problem did he/she have?

👉 Tip:
Underline verbs in the past simple.

 

6️. LISTENING – How to do it well

Before listening:

  • Look at the pictures.
  • Read the question.

While listening:

  • Listen for key words (ill, dentist, water…).
  • Don’t worry if you don’t understand everything.

After listening:

  • Check: Does my answer match the picture?
